An Andrew’s Labor Government “Inquiry into Anti-Vilification Protections” in Victorian laws has produced a 308-page Report containing 36 recommendations which are wide-ranging and raise many concerns. Victoria’s current vilification law, the Racial and Religious Tolerance Act, covers race and religion. The Inquiry recommends adding new protected attributes including gender identity, which opens up a whole new area of differences of opinions and beliefs.
