Those of us who hoped that the royal commission that took place after last summer’s disastrous fire season would give clear guidance as to what went wrong and how to avoid such tragedies, will be disappointed.

The Royal Commissioners, led by former head of the Defence Force, Air Chief Marshal Mark Binskin, were never going to produce such a report.
