PREVENTION WORKS: HARM MINIMISATION DOESN’T*

The pivotal question for drug policy in this country is this. Do Australians want more illicit drug use or less illicit drug use?
There is no equivocation about their answer. The last national survey of 25,000 Australians to publish a response, found that 99 per cent do not approve of the regular use of heroin, speed and ice, 98 per cent do not approve of the use of cocaine, 97 per cent of the use of ecstasy and 86 per cent of the recreational use of cannabis.
