Technology has had a potent effect on how popular music is created. No longer is it principally about musicians putting in thousands of hours learning their instruments.
In the studio, and even live, out-of-tune singing can be corrected mechanically. If musicians play the wrong notes on their instruments, they get as many chances as they like to do it correctly.
